Mission: Stewardship

Mission Objective: Becoming Able Men & Women of Truth.

A steward is one who acts as a supervisor or administrator of finances and property for another; a person morally responsible for the careful use of money, time, talents or other resources especially with respect to the principles or needs of a community or group.

Biblically speaking stewardship is all encompassing and interestingly, uniquely Hebraic in nature.  It addresses all aspects of our lives, leading toward becoming better and more faithful administrators of the things The Almighty has placed before us.  As an illustration of stewardship at work in our lives, the relationship we have with Messiah through His word is represented by the sun in our diagram.  The rays of His light illuminate all areas of our being, bringing His interests to bear in our thoughts, words and actions.

Stewardship begins with the recognition that The Almighty never relinquished ownership of anything He created.  Psalm 24 says “the Earth is The Lords and everything in it, the world and all who live in it.”  In Leviticus 25, God states that the Israelites are His servants.  Servants must be about their master’s work.  They own nothing, yet are placed in charge of various things at their master’s good pleasure.  Some are given greater responsibility than others based on their skill set and faithfulness.  The Patriarch Joseph in Egypt is a great example.  He entered Egypt with nothing but the clothes on his back, yet because of his faithfulness to the God of his fathers (Abraham, Isaac, & Jacob) and His precepts, he was given charge of everything in the land.

The lesson for us today is; it’s first about heart attitude, which should lead to greater obedience, triggering a desire to responsibly manage those things The Almighty has placed before us.  As we grow in this responsibility, we learn that proper management according to His precepts triggers His blessings to flow in our lives.
